I would strongly agree with the Institute for Government who is speaking against devolution and abolish it. This is because they have included precise statistics and facts supporting their argument against devolution. Some examples are the increase of votes for Scotland's independence, 27% before devolution, to around 45% present day. this is because devolution delivers uneven power to different regions which causes dissapointment in their government for feeling isolated or ignored by the devolution system. This can lead to the government of that region setting up propaganda or more election to influence and convince the general public of that region to vote for the government's independence. However, some may argue against my opinion and decide to agree with Tony Blair who strongly supports the idea of the devolution system. One reason someone may agree with Blair is because the original objective for the devolution system was to bring a "new settlement between the seperate parts of the UK so that decision making was brought closer to the people". This means that people like the working class could have a say in government which could make more working class people vote for devolution because their voice will be heard.

I agree with writer two more than writer one. This is because devolved powers dosent resolved the bitter community problems. For example, Northern Ireland devolved assembly has been suspended for as long as it has been in operation. But their devolved assembly hasn't resolved their communities problems, infact the communities don't heal from devotion, they stay separated. Although writer 1 (Tony Blair) explains the case, that devolution bring about a new settlement between the different parts of the UK, that it prevents the breakup of the UK. Although, writer 2 also devolution is flawed as it normally was delivered in an uneven maner to different regions. For example places like Scotland, devolution has increased the desire for independance from devolution, from before 27% to 45%. This shows that devolution has failed in Scotland.

Devolution is the transfer of power from a central government to a regional government. I agree with Tony Blair as devolution is fair and just as regional governments can have the ability to change and have more control and influence over their country. For example, "The Welsh appreciate devolution as their powers have been increased". This shows that they are satisfied with devolution and the powers they have been given. On the other hand one might say that I agree with writer two and say devolution has failed. This is because although they have power, the desire for independance has not fallen and instead been rising from 27% to 45%.

On one hand, people may agree with Source A as they say devolution brought/created a strong sense of cultural identity. This allows countries with devolved parliaments to adjust and change rules based on their culture and citizens beliefs. On the other hand, source B says that support for independence has grown from 27% to 45%. This increase shows that people will grow greedier for independence. However in Source A Tony Blair states that devolution adresses the identity problems in the UK. This allows the UK to be more equal and allowing everyone to be free and not dictated. Contrastingly, Source B says that university students leave with less debt in devolved countries. This shows that England is making students pay more for education. Another reason for source A is because they say that devolution in northern ireland bring peace after decades. Finally I agree with source A as giving devolved powers further implies the UK is democratic by giving everyone power and independence.

I agree with Tony Blair's view of devolution as the purpose of devolution was to bring the UK back together. Creating a stronger sense of cultural identity for the people. Devolution has adressed the injustices and identity problems in the UK. This is evident through the creations of the Scottish Parliament, the Senedd Cymru (the Welsh Parliament) and the Northern Ireland Assembly. On the other hand, I can understand Writer B's point of view as they have made some compelling arguements. For example, they stated that devolution had not stopped Scotlands desire for independence and has actually increased it from 27% before to 45% now. Another example would be, that devolution has failed due to an uneven manner to different regions.
"Which writer do you agree with most? Explain your answer by evaluating the arguments in both sources and using your own knowledge."
I agree with Tony Blair that devolution has helped society. This is because in the text it says 'decision making was brought closer to the people' and I think this is good because the fact civilians have a greater role is changing society. As for example in Northern Ireland they saw lasting peace after decades of violence. Devolution also made the injustices better and also help to identify problems across the UK. Due to revolution, the people elected to support the community will be able to help the area, whereas if it was only the prime minister he wouldn't have time to go all over the UK to solve issues. This also prevents the breakup of the UK by curbing Scottish independence. However due to devolution they now have their rights and more power.
"Which writer do you agree with most? Explain your answer by evaluating the arguments in both sources and using your own knowledge."
I agree with writer B where they say that devolution has failed. This is because it says for Northern Ireland has been suspended for as long as it has been in operation. In wales the public services, as such as health and education has fallen. This backs up the point because it shows how different countries have failed and how devolution has failed in different parts of the UK. Another reason why devolution has failed is Scottish and Welsh university students leave with less debt than English students after 3 years of study and this also shows how devolution has failed.
"Which writer do you agree with most? Explain your answer by evaluating the arguments in both sources and using your own knowledge."
I agree with tony Blair view of devolution because other people have power and decision makeing is more closer to people and it will be more easyer for us and it will also make a stronger sense of cultural which is good. This will also make more peace to the UK and if street election's are made it will be more easy to set it up like cities like london and manchester have elected mayors with broad powers. But in my opion the case against devolution is not as good because there is less freedom and you wont have a stronger relationship. So you be able to make this makes community problem and this will remain divided. Devolution will make uneven regions.
"Which writer do you agree with most? Explain your answer by evaluating the arguments in both sources and using your own knowledge."
I agree with tony Blairs view of devolution. as it has brung about a new settlement to create a strong sense of cultural identity. Also done to prevent the breakup of the UK, devolution also adressed the injustices and identity problems across the UK. Wales support and appreciate devolution and their powers have been increased now. Different policies are being introduced in different regions... this change enables to win trust and confidence of the people. The institute for government does also make valid points as he disagree's with tony's point saying devolution has failed. He states the Northern Ireland developed assembly has been suspended for as long as its been in operation and it hasn't resolved the bitter community problems. He thinks that communitys are not healed or united as one - they remain divided. In wales the provision of public services has fallen behind other parts of the UK and the support for independence in scotland has grown from 27% before devolution to about 45% today. Looking at both points I still agree with tony blair due to devolution bringing lots of benefits to society but the other side still makes valid points but tony's points are much more valid.
"Which writer do you agree with most? Explain your answer by evaluating the arguments in both sources and using your own knowledge."
I agree with Tony Blairs veiw of devolution because its purposuse was to create a strong sonce of cultural identity and shows how the decisions making have brought people closer together. For example devolution was to bring about a new settlement between different parts of the UK, devolution is also done to prevent the break up of the UK. This stops the seperation between the country as a whole. However the veiw from the institute disagrees with the grainen veiw of devolution. They believe that devolution had not ended with the desire for independence, this ments that without devolution the independence still accured. For example "independance had grown from 27% before devolution to 45% today." This shows that they believe that devolution wasn't really a major nessesity. In conclution I believe that devolution is important as it brings people together even though statistics shows that without it independence still occurs. I believe develation helps build the trust and confidence of the people.

Both writers present a different point of veiw on devlution. Writer Tony Blair belives that devolution is needed and helps cities have powers across the world. Contrastingly, the institute for Government belives that devolution is a failed system that is unfair. Personally, I agree with the institute for Government. The institute for Government that disagrees with devolution. The institute for Government states, 'Devolution has failed because it has been delivered in an uneven manner to the different regions'. Devolution has caused problems such as Scottish or Welsh university students leaving school with less debt than English students. This show proves the institute for Government's point on how devolution is unfair to different regions. Devolution has also failed in its mission to make civillians feel more united, support for independence has grown from 27% to 45%. On the other hand, people may also support Tony Blair's belies that devolution is critical to make people feel more united. Tony Blair states, 'devolution was to bring about a new settlement between the different parts of the UK so that decision making was brought closer to the people, thus creating a strong sense of cultural identity'. In conclusion, I stick with my belif that devolution is a failed system and shouldn't be resorted to. Although there has been a widespread in support of devolution, there has also been a 18% rise in people wanting independence, proving devolution has not brought people together but made them feel even more seperated from eachother.
"Which writer do you agree with most? Explain your answer by evaluating the arguments in both sources and using your own knowledge."
I agree with writer B. Because this specific reason is that Scotland support with devolution but therefore the system of devolution goes down to people but for there was 45% and less than 27% of the people had taken over. Devolution is good because to prevent the breakup of the UK. Also the injustices and identity problems across the UK. In Northern Ireland we saw lasting peace after decades of violence and devolution saw two oposing camps sitting down and sharing government. Great cities of London and manchester have elected mayors with broad powers-like all other great cities across the world. New polices have emerged in the devolved areas with some making little diffrence. Devolution has been rejected by some English regions - the take-up of electing city mayors is uneven.
"Which writer do you agree with most? Explain your answer by evaluating the arguments in both sources and using your own knowledge."
I agree with Tony Blair the most because I think that the UK should be together instead of split up, it also brings people together which can really help a country. Other people might disagree with me because they might think that devolution has already failed and is even making it worse in some cases. For example in Scotland the desire for independence only got more severe and worse since devolution started. Which means that devolution doesnt really help. But overall I think that Tony Blairs view is more better than the view for the Institute for Government.
"Which writer do you agree with most? Explain your answer by evaluating the arguments in both sources and using your own knowledge."
I agree with Tony Blair the most as he wants all countries in the UK to get along and settle all their differences without any critisism.
Some people may say writer B as people should do what they want to do. This is telling me that people should be independent and handle their problems by themselves.
Therefore I do agree with writer b however I agree with writer A more as everyone should get advice and improve on their mistakes.
"Which writer do you agree with most? Explain your answer by evaluating the arguments in both sources and using your own knowledge."
I agree with writer 1 because I beleive devolution is aimed to give power to other countries and cities to keep them in power. Which can help them in the long term since the countries can become united. The purpose of devolution was to bring about a new settlement between the different parts of the UK. Although there are many benefits to devolution there has been times when it has failed. For an example devolution has not ended the desire for independence. Support for independence has grown from 27% to 45% today. Which could be bad because it could cause people to rebel. In conclusion I agree with writer one the most because devolution can give lasting peace.
"Which writer do you agree with most? Explain your answer by evaluating the arguments in both sources and using your own knowledge."
Devolution is a transfer of power from the central government to regional government. I agree with Tony Blair as he believes that the purpose of devolution is to allow smaller regional governments to make decisions, which creates a strong sense of cultural identity. For example, the Scottish Parliament, Holyrood, they have a different education system and different healthcare. Another reason why I agree with TB is because it prevents the breakups in the UK as Scotland wanted to gain independence from the UK as there was a referendum if they should leave the UK or not. In results to this, the UK devolved power to Scotland. Therefore, I agree with TB as it allows regional parts of the country, such as Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland a greater sense of individuality and power and it also helps to maintain a stable country.
"Which writer do you agree with most? Explain your answer by evaluating the arguments in both sources and using your own knowledge."
I agree with Tony Blairs because devolution creates a strong sense of cultural identity to communities, and also was done to prevent the breakup of the UK. It helps us build/develop on our communities. This helps us get closer together and expand our mindset. Not only does it support the UK but it brings decision making closer to the people. I dissagree with the institute for government as they only explain the bad sides and not what the good it has done to the people. They are expanding their beliefs and it will reach all across the UK making it a safer and better place for the future generations creating it to be stable and a welcoming place for other people across the world. This is why I agree with Tony Blair's view of devolution and how it improves the UK.
"Which writer do you agree with most? Explain your answer by evaluating the arguments in both sources and using your own knowledge."
I personally agree with Tony Blair's view because devolution has proven to bring together and heal the British community, as well as prevent breakup down into smaller countries. The welsh appreciate their power loaned by devolution. Northern ireland stopped their violence and have finally at peace. This proves devolution wins the trust of the people. On the other hand, support for Scottish independence rose to 45% from 27%. In Northern ireland the devolved assembly has been suspended and in wales the provision of public services fell below. In conclusion, at first devolution worked for a while before things became worse than before devolution was adapted in the UK and has even been rejected by English regions.
"Which writer do you agree with most? Explain your answer by evaluating the arguments in both sources and using your own knowledge."
I agree with the case against devolution this is because it states how devolution has failed. Devolution was made to keep the UK together and prevent the breakup of the UK. It was also used to adress injustice. However, the desire for independence has grown from 27% to 45%. This proves that devolution is not working like how it is supposed to. To further back up that point, it has uneven manner to the different regions, the new polices barely make a change. However, it could be argued that devolution should stay because it was made to bring people closer which would make a strong sense in cultural identity. It also says that it helped for a better justice system. In conclusion I believe that devolution has failed horridly, the thing is it failed at every single most thing it was made to do.
"Which writer do you agree with most? Explain your answer by evaluating the arguments in both sources and using your own knowledge."
Some people may agree with Tony Blairs veiw of devolution. This could be because it combines different government could prevent arguments and solve new problems. He also stated that devolution has also adressed the injustices and other various of problems across the UK. Northern Ireland had been experiencing many different cases of violene and devolution has solved these violences. Some may also agree with the institute for government. This may be because they say because even with devolution Northern Ireland the small community violence havent been stopped meaning it has no effect after on peace. They also state that still havent come to solved and are still divided. Overall I agree with institute for government.
"Which writer do you agree with most? Explain your answer by evaluating the arguments in both sources and using your own knowledge."
I agree with the institute for Government because devolution is unfair to the majority of UK citizens. This is evident through the fact that Wales public services are fallen behind other parts of the UK. Devolution have has been delivered in an unjustified manner and now we have instances where Scottish or Welsh students have been leaving university with less debt than English students. This shows devolution is unfair to the majority. Havever, you can make the argument that devolution is a good thing because it has kept the peace for so long. In countries such as Northern Ireland that were suffering, saw decades of long-lasting peace with devolution. Each devolved government has its own agenda and devolution allows those who were previously silenced to voice out their messages. This shows how devolution can be positive.
"Which writer do you agree with most? Explain your answer by evaluating the arguments in both sources and using your own knowledge."
I agree with the first one. This is because he explains in depth an example of what devolution is. It also shows more example of the various devolve governments. However the second writer shows a more indepth anagasis one each paliament before and after they devolved.
"Which writer do you agree with most? Explain your answer by evaluating the arguments in both sources and using your own knowledge."
I agree with Tony Blair more. This is because this gives the countries their own recognition and independence. This is benefitial as it gives countries like Scotland power over their own departments like education/military and health which allows the citizens to be free from British sovreignty and control over their departments. Also countries can further develop their cultural identity and make their citizens further develop their culture. However, if a country is not as developed, it can lead to financial issues like in wales, Health, education and public services has gone down but in the UK those departments were not in trouble but now they are.
"Which writer do you agree with most? Explain your answer by evaluating the arguments in both sources and using your own knowledge."
Devolution is good because UK and Scottish people were haveing wars and every country wanted to be head and the local government wanted to share powers because Northern wanted peace and election.
